FIS Men’s Alpine Skiing World Cup in Bormio

Bormio, in the Italian Dolomites, hosts from 25 to 28 of December the latest round of the men’s World Cup, featuring a downhill competition.

The Alpine World Cup is the most glamorous event in skiing from 1962, when the FIS created a unified competition. All the best skiers now take part in FIS Alpine World Cup, the definitive tournament run very much along the lines of Formula One motor racing.



There are different awards for the individual disciplines, but the Holy Grail is the title of Alpine World Cup Overall Champion.

The tournament is divided in two events : men and ladies, held in different locations and the individual disciplines, for both sexes, are slalom, giant slalom,downhill, super G and combined, to test all ability of modern athletes. To win the combined title, therefore, is the mark of a truly accomplished skier.
